NewPage Corporation is a leading producer of coated paper in North America. The company has around 8,000 employees and has net sales of about $4.7 billion.

Lean Six Sigma at NewPageAs a producer of coated paper, the company faces the challenge of producing paper faster, better and cheaper—all at the same time. To do this and more, NewPage implements an operating model with two priorities: (1) lowering costs while increasing quality; (2) focusing on customer needs to optimize value as well as two cultural initiatives.

The company then implements Lean Six Sigma, a combination of the speed and low cost of lean manufacturing principles and the quality and low variability of Six Sigma. The results have been amazing for the compay.
