This system finds cause-and-effect relationships, an information you need to manage process inputs and optimize the output.
An article on iSixSigma discusses a primer of Design of Experiments. The article starts the discussion with a definition of terms to an example, and to the process.

In the light of the recent State of the Nation Address (SONA) here in the country, I thought of researching about how to apply Six Sigma in governance.
Good thing that iSixSigma is back online and I found an article there that discusses how it can be done.

The Oil Industry Looks at Six Sigma as Savior
Posted by: meikah | 14 April 2009 | 9:55 pm

In a press release on MarketWatch, oil industry visionaries foresee a decrease in consumption of gasoline. Thus, energy companies see the need to use their resources more efficiently to maintain and grow revenue and profit.
To address this need, iSixSigma Live! sets an Energy Forum for Process Excellence in Houston, the energy capital of the world, on May 19-22. The workshop will detail how upstream and downstream energy companies can spend fewer resources and achieve faster results.
One of the goals of the workshop is:
Explore, understand and discuss ways for you to integrate and apply Strategic Process Management, Lean and Six Sigma, to rapidly improve your business performance.

Six Sigma and Enterprise Risk Management
Posted by: meikah | 18 March 2009 | 9:08 pm

According to an iSixSigma article:
Enterprise risk management (ERM) is a framework for managing risk across an organization. It improves an organization’s ability to accept the right amount of risk to capture strategic opportunities. ERM is made up of eight components, each of which can be supported by the tools and methods of Six Sigma.
The 8 components are:
- Internal environment
- Objective setting
- Event identification
- Risk assessment
- Risk response
- Control activities
- Monitoring
- Information and communication
Each is explained alongside with the role of Six Sigma tools in each component.

Lean Six Sigma Comic
Posted by: meikah | 10 February 2009 | 11:55 pm

Rath & Strong and Cox Comics‘ have come up with an “attitudinal” Lean Six Sigma comic.
Titled, Another Crazy Idea? the comic uses visual storytelling to positively affect attitudes toward Lean Six Sigma. Its goal is to encourage front line workers to give LSS a chance and encourage them to have a role in their LSS initiative.
I have been a long-standing fun of Cox Comics over at iSixSigma blogosphere, and so I know this comic will again depict the successes and challenges in the quality management scenario.
