Does Being a Six Sigma Certified Save You Your Job?
Posted by: meikah | 28 April 2009 | 7:38 pm
Layoffs seem to be the trend these days. I can’t say I blame all the companies who had to let go of their employees. I know many of them had thought long and hard before laying off people. Times are just hard and they have no choice but to streamline or cease business.
Over at SixSigmatuts, it appears that certified Six Sigma practitioners have a lower rate of being laid off than those who are not. A study can attest to this. Here are the results:
- There is a statistically significant lower layoff rate between those that are training in the Six Sigma methodology and those who have not.
- People who have not been trained and certified in Six Sigma are twice as likely to lose their job than certified Green Belts.
Well, if this were true, and you are a certified Six Sigma practitioner then you’re among the lucky ones.

Posted by: meikah | 29 March 2009 | 7:41 pm

ForConstructionPros.com reports that Schwarze Industries has a new president, Bob Faulhaber. What interested SixSig in this announcement is Faulhaber’s background on Six Sigma:
He is Toyota Production System trained, a Six Sigma Black Belt, and has over 30 years of manufacturing experience serving a variety of industries, including automotive, fire and rescue vehicles, telecommunications and industrial controls.
With this in his sleeve, I’m sure Faulhaber will bring in new good opportunities to Schwarze.

What are the Qualities of a Six Sigma Black Belt Candidate?
Posted by: meikah | 30 June 2008 | 11:46 pm
If you’re asking the same question, then check out Tony Jacowski’s article on content4reprint.com.
- Appreciates customer promotion – He must know the value of customer in the business equation.
- Has the right personal attributes – He must be the positive influence that motivate others; self-motivated, and I think should also be a self-starter.
- Displays some leadership qualities – He must be the change agent, and thus an initiator.
- Possesses good communication skills – He must be able to convey messages well, and act as an effective mediator between employees and management, a coach and trainor.
- Has the technical aptitude – Though not necessary, he must have some background in engineering, statistics, and computers.
Choosing candidates for Six Sigma Black Belt is crucial in your Six Sigma deployment because from them, a good change agent leader must emerge. It goes without saying that a Six Sigma initiative is nothing without the right people in the team.
