Does Being a Six Sigma Certified Save You Your Job?
Posted by: meikah | 28 April 2009 | 7:38 pm
Layoffs seem to be the trend these days. I can’t say I blame all the companies who had to let go of their employees. I know many of them had thought long and hard before laying off people. Times are just hard and they have no choice but to streamline or cease business.
Over at SixSigmatuts, it appears that certified Six Sigma practitioners have a lower rate of being laid off than those who are not. A study can attest to this. Here are the results:
- There is a statistically significant lower layoff rate between those that are training in the Six Sigma methodology and those who have not.
- People who have not been trained and certified in Six Sigma are twice as likely to lose their job than certified Green Belts.
Well, if this were true, and you are a certified Six Sigma practitioner then you’re among the lucky ones.

Posted by: meikah | 29 March 2009 | 7:41 pm

ForConstructionPros.com reports that Schwarze Industries has a new president, Bob Faulhaber. What interested SixSig in this announcement is Faulhaber’s background on Six Sigma:
He is Toyota Production System trained, a Six Sigma Black Belt, and has over 30 years of manufacturing experience serving a variety of industries, including automotive, fire and rescue vehicles, telecommunications and industrial controls.
With this in his sleeve, I’m sure Faulhaber will bring in new good opportunities to Schwarze.

The SixSig Roundup
Posted by: meikah | 10 February 2009 | 7:10 pm
It’s time again for some link-loving and see what other blogs are saying about Six Sigma, Lean, Lean Six Sigma and other quality improvement processes.
Discover6Sigma shares the concept of Affinity Diagram. If you’re handling large and complex data, and you need to evaluate and come up with a decision using that data, then affinity diagraming may just be useful.
At Your Marketing Machine, an entry talks about companies going into lean, but whose lean efforts don’t t even touch marketing operations. Thus the post recommends to lean your marketing.
The Art of Service talks about the need for discipline in the IT service management. Since ITSM is a process-based framework, then it is complementary with Six Sigma or business process management.
noank6.com talks about the role of the champion in Six Sigma. Six Sigma Champions have to undertake the very important task of aligning the Six Sigma projects to the objectives of the organization.
GembaTM Panta Rei asks, where did value stream mapping come from? The idea might have originated from John Shook and Mike Rother who are both pioneers in introducing material and information flow diagramming and developing lean thinking.
